About the Event
The Emerging Leader Summit
Working in the middle can be challenging. Top talents assigned into managerial roles are thrust into positions of responsibility and tasked with creating an environment that promotes team growth and business success while mitigating conflict. Their supervisor has priorities and their direct reports need their guidance and direction. Often for emerging leaders (first line and middle management), it can be challenging and at the same time rewarding, only if organizations recognized that middle management is the glue that holds organizations together. Emerging leaders juggle the pressure in the middle and still get work done.
It takes a full set of skills and a leadership mindset to master the challenges and fulfill the high expectations that emerging leaders (managers) face. At The Emerging Leader Summit (TELS), we help equip your managers with the skills to manage and lead effectively.
The main objective of TELS is to help organizations develop the next generation of leaders who will be able to :
- Bridge the gap between senior management and frontline managers
- Prepare emerging leaders for future leadership roles
- Balance the scale between efficiency and effectiveness
- Strategic thinking and effective problem solving
Summit Session
28 October 2021 - Full Day
Communication: The Middle Manager’s Lifeline
Senior managers play a critical role in setting the direction and pace of the company, middle managers are just as significant. Studies have shown that middle managers act as critical pivot points within organizations, filtering and linking the communication between senior leaders and subordinates. At the heart of creating a productive atmosphere is constant communication and engagement at all levels of an organization. Thus, middle managers have a responsibility to ensure that information flows effectively both up and down in the organization.
Join us as we explore the role of communication in middle management and the art of effective communication. The full-day summit will help middle managers:
- Learn the art of effective upward and downward communication.
- Crafting the message for different audiences and harnessing communication channels
- Utilize communication to create trust
- Develop essential attributes of effective communication
As usual, our approach is interactive. Participants will do a communication assessment before the summit as well as group activities designed to help them explore communication principles in action.
